It's just like riding a bike...

... or so I have been told. You see, I have a confession to make: I don't actually know how to ride a bike. But I understand the meaning of the saying.

Do you know what would relate more to me? If people said, "it's just like getting in the water to swim". Because that's what I did today. I got in a pool after almost three years. And I was nervous. But I submerged my head after a few minutes of doggie paddling, and all my childhood swim lessons came flooding back.

All I could think was, "Woohoo! I can still swim!" I did a flip in the water in my excitement, and when I came up for air, at least three guests at our hotel looked at me in confusion. But I didn't care. Lol.

I aM here in Hampton, VA for the Hampton Jazz Festival. This is my second time, and after i had such a blast last year, I had to come back. So for my birthday, I got tickets to the Saturday and Sunday shows (Friday was sold out).

Anyway, the moral of this post is.... Don't sell yourself short on anything. We can do anything we put our minds to! And I know I am looking forward to the day (after many hours on the treadmill, in the pool, etc) that I will take my first picture as the cutest Pin Up Girl we've ever seen!

What is something you haven't done in awhile, that came running back to you after not doing it in a long time?

Inspirational Quotes

Today was a heck of a day...
I had four different meetings/obligations to meet that spanned from 10 this morning to 7 this evening. Needless to say, I am exhausted right now. But then I remembered a quote I saw on Pinterest this morning while I was preparing for my morning workout:

So right when I wanted to go home, I reread this quote and turned my attitude around. And here I am, utterly exhausted, but still going strong.

Have you ever had one of those days where you thought your stamina would run out? What motivated you to keep going?

365 to 13.1: Biggest Loser 5K

As I am training for the half marathon, I have signed up for a few shorter races to build up to the big one next year. I am thrilled to announce: in 25 days, I will be participating in the Biggest Loser Run Walk Series 5K in DC! It seems like a great race to begin my journey, since I began this whole fitness plan because I started watching the most recent season of The Biggest Loser (TBL).

Before and After of TBL Season 14 winner Danni Allen. She lost 121 pounds!
